Greetings First-years!!!! Welcome to the longest standing concurrent Knox tradition! One of the most exciting parts of Flunk Day isn't Flunk Day at all, but the mystery leading up to it! Use this forum to post predictions, comments, and hype about Flunk Day as the time gets closer. Getting strong Flunk Vibes from Thursday the 27th

^I get that, its kinda dramatic...

rise up event for sexual assault awareness is that day, and i just feel like that would be a !bad thing! to have to cancel

Week 7

Maybe they'll go for 3 Mondays in a row

Lots of talk on Yik Yak about today. Someone claims to have seen trucks? But no pictures posted yet

guys i'm scared i don't want another monday fluhnk

no Monday flunk today. my bets are on Thursday although there is lots of talk of it being a week 8 monday flunk.

'Twas the night before Flunk Day
When good children lay
awaiting the bedlam
of pots and pans,
from friars who sing
of the good tidings they bring:
News of booze
Stories of glory
A broadcast! At long last!
The day has arrived
and the students have survived
a full year of college.
Thus, UB has acknowledged
that this is cause for celebration,
for excessive laughter and jubilation.
So, go ahead, go wild!
Run around like a child!
Make friends with strangers,
keep one another out of danger.
Relax and tan on the lawn,
or party 'til the new dawn.
And maybe get just a little drunk
because today, my friends, is a day to flunk!
Flunk Day 2018

I choose to believe. Lots of rumors for this day.

Guest speaker coming for history department, very likely not today.

They gave the guest speaker an additional time on Wednesday? Why else would they do that if not for Flunk

I feel like there hasn't been a lot of talk about Flunk being today... If the only conflict is the guest speaker... I don't know. Thursday seems a little obvious. Maybe they're trying to catch us off guard. Besides, who knows if they even registered the speaker with the planners.

What do you mean by “They gave the guest speaker an additional time on Wednesday?” ??? Nothing on the calendar

no flunk today :(

May 3, 2023 (Wed)
I feel a May 3rd flunk in my bones (I have been informed that this is BBB, my bones were wrong)

There was an RA meeting scheduled for this day that Amanda postponed without explanation

Blessing blues and brews is also on this day so no may 3 flunk

After a significant time suppling ChatGPT with information about flunk day and its history,
one student was successful in getting ChatGPT to make a flunk day prediction.
ChatGPT took data from past years, previous flunk day dates, knowledge of widely accepted
acceptable date parameters, and access to one of the flunk day planner's calendar in order
to make its prediction. May 3rd, 2023 was the Open AI's Flunk Day prediction.

Listen y'all, it has to be the third, its just too good! Monday is too predictable, Tuesday
and Thursday classes are a pain to reschedule and I feel like the planners are nice and will
consider that (total assumption but listen, okay, it makes sense), and it can't be next week
because rutabaga runs Tuesday --> Friday and following the "it wont be Monday three times in
a row" rule, it has to be the 3rd. The week after rutabaga is way too late and they wouldn't
do that to us twice in a row, would they? No. May 3rd. Mark your calendars!

^two problems with the may 3 theory: one, blessings blues and brews, which would be a complete pain to reschedule since it's a student-run event in a rented space that is advertised to the Galesburg community (and it's Blessing's primary fundraiser) and the McGadney Community Dinner on the 3rd, which would be horrendous optics to announce and then be forced to reschedule because of flunk (esp since McGadney knows when flunk day is and can schedule his events around it).

no flunk today ):

friar sign up email just got sent out 👀 seems a bit last minute

Fac/Staff volunteer email went out today.
Flunk Day 2017

Myrissa planner ra hint look at jake calendar... jake calendar say he "out of office" on this day....... sussy....

May the 4th be with you....Flunk Wars?

False Flunk email 1st anniversary. Who's taking one for the team this year?

i feel it in my hearts of hearts... just manifesting

Because they haven’t released the theme yet, I feel like it’s going to be today and that it’s going to be Flunk Wars: Return of the Flunk in honor of the anniversary of Return of the Jedi

If it's not May third, it's 100% May 4th. I'll bet my life savings on this I am so confident. Listen, listen, listen, okay, so no next week because rutabaga (and not that Monday because having another Monday flunk is laaaame) and the weeks after are way to late, no way they pull a late flunk on us again. Professors weren't happy with it being so late last year and while, ya know, sucks to suck, the professors also had a point and I doubt they'll do it again.

Someone I know who is involved in Flunk Day planning was very adamant that it would not be the 3rd or the 4th. It could be a ruse, and I'm hoping it is because I really don't want another week 8 or 9 flunk...
?

It has to be today I feel it in my bone(r)s.

On Campus interviews for the Athletic Director are May 4, May 9, and May 10. The Deans knew the date of flunk day when the scheduled these interviews.

^^any chance some of those dates could be fake? Or how much do you know about the on campus interviews

^^ I feel the interview sessions are something the school is willing to overlap flunk with

^ True. If the interviews are taking place in, say, Alumni Hall, interviewees should be able to get here and undergo the interview process without much interruption from Flunk festivities.

^^ but the staff that is in charge of running flunk is in charge of running the interviews? how they gonna do both?

^ tis not true. flunk is student development and campus life which would not be who hires for athletics

is anyone scouting for trucks yet?

I didn't see any trucks :/

An Angel revealed to me in a dream that this is flunk day

this was the perfect day for it, the weathers gonna be trash on monday

I'm so over this tbh, so so disappointed it wasn't today :/ yeah idk what's wrong with the planners trying to push it as close to finals as humanly possible. It's extremely stressful :/

:(
Week 8

Myrissa flunk day planner doesnt work RA job may 8th, 9th or 10th

Hearing a lot of speculation, but I personally find it highly unlikely they will do three Mondays in a row, as well as having it on Monday of week 8 twice in a row.

If they won't do it on Wed May 3 because of Blessing, Brews, and Blues AND McGadney's thing, AND they can't do it the 4th, 9th, or 10th because of the Athletic Director interviews. This is the ONLY day left that isn't Rootabega or Week 9. Monday Flunk Confirmed.

Sigh. Beyond sick of the Monday Flunks. This might be the first time in Flunk History it’s on the same day 3 years in a row, and it’s like the worst day to to have it, still got the whole rest of the week to go when it’s over

Isn't monday the trio banquet tho??

^ no one from TRIO has actually sent out an rsvp form or an email about the banquet, which they usually do a week before the banquet every year. Pretty sus...

it’s on their posters and they are advertising to people in meetings, it’s on their calendar

TRIO banquet rsvp was sent out at the beginning of term to the trio dist list

it would be so boring if they passed up thursday to do a repeat of last year

TRIO banquet is not a reason for Flunk Day to not happen on monday

istg if it is today I will be severely disappointed. Thursday the 4th should've been flunk, the weather is supposed to suck all of week 8

^Monday of week NINE? If this is true I think many people would be over it by this point, not to mention already working on final projects/papers so it would be an inconvenience as well. I can't imagine the professors would be happy about it, either. Would there be a rationale behind doing it so late?
One of the creepier buildings on campus, especially at night, the Aux Gym is home to various Knox dance groups, including Terpsichore and Ballroom Dance. It is also home to bats, who fly around to amuse and inspire dancers while they are practicing. The basement is particularly amazing, you should check it out.

As of the 2007-2008 schoolyear, the basement has been transformed into a space for advanced studio art students to work. This makes the basement less creepy. Although you can hear dancers practice above, which is pretty terrifying. Imagine elephants dancing above your room.

On March 1, 2008, a Galesburg firefighter happened to attend a Terp show and noticed that the building was nowhere near up to the fire code, and so it has been declared hazardous for occupancy by more than 50 people at a time. Because Knox is poor, there are currently no plans for doing anything about it, and so Terp is looking for a new performance space.

As of 2023, the Aux gym remains abandoned. Legend says that if you walk by the basement door late at night and knock three times, the personified ghost of Lincolns debate (who has moved out of old main after getting fed up of strangers sitting on the chair) will open the door and invite you in for midnight tea with the ghouls and bats of Knox college. Other notable ghouls in attendance usually include the ghosts of the old jail and the whale.

Professors weren't happy with it being so late last year and while, ya know, sucks to suck, the professors also had a point and I doubt they'll do it again.
while visions of flunk day danced in their heads.
Roommate with booze, an i with my stash,

were all buckled in for this crazy ol' bash.

When out in the Quads arose such a clatter,

i sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window i flew in a flash,

where someone there shouted, "Get off your ass!".

The sun on top of newly made mud,

gave excitement and awe to the first years and their buds.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a big group of seniors, with a whole lot of cheer!

With a check to my inbox, to see what they say,

i knew in a moment it must be Flunk Day!

More rapid than eagles, the friars they came,

they whistled and shouted, and called out by name:

"Now Conger! Now Neal! Now Elder and Four name!"

oh, Post!, Furrow, and Sherwin, don't dare be lame!

Joan Huguet is the theory professor in the Music Department. Her lemon bars would make an angel cry. She is the defender of students rights, and will email anyone on campus for you if she feels you have been slighted in any way. Can appear nervous, but do not be fooled, she has her shit together, more so than anyone else on campus. Be warned, her classes are hard. She loves you enough to challenge you. If you are struggling with one of her assignments, she will absolutely work with you. She is the most reasonable person that has ever existed. However, if you walk past her office when she isn't busy, she may make you play piano for her.
