The Office of Institutional Research is a planned addition to the Knox administration, likely as part of the Office of Academic Affairs. On 20 June 2007 local congressional representative Phil Hare (D-IL) announced that a $1.3m grant from the Strengthening Institutions Program of the U.S. Department of Education had been approved for Knox. The grant, which totals $1,253,000, accounts for about two-thirds of the total cost of the office, the rest of which Knox will raise itself.

The Office of Institutional Research will be charged with assessing the quality of courses and academic departments, with an eye both towards improvement and toward more advanced market research to make Knox a more attractive school to prospective students. In short, expect those admission brochures to get a whole lot glossier.
