Use the following format to compile a list of places to get your hair cut in Galesburg. That way we can all be informed consumers.
Business | Location | Cost | Hours | Comments | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Piggy's Beauty Salon | Behind the softball field on Academy | Unknown | Unknown | Very shady, Mark Munoz went there once | |
Brock's Barber Shop | Next door to Hawk's Tattoo Parlor, on North Seminary St. | $7 | Unknown | Your standard small town barber shop. Brock is a character, and will give you a completely unexciting haircut. If you're lucky, he'll tell you a story about whoring while he was in the Navy. | |
Rich's Corner Barber Shop | Across from Galesburg Pub. Library and Coney Island | $11 | open 'til 5 p.m. | Not the best haircut I've ever gotten, but it was $10 (now $11). | |
Hair Cuttery | On Henderson, 1/2 way to the Hy-Vee on the right | $12 | Open on Sundays (!) | A solid cut and wash. Typical chain. | |
Hairetcetera Salon & Day Spa | On Seminary Street, next to The Landmark | $30 | Flexible times (weekend & evening appointments possible) | Nice atmosphere, mediocre haircuts. Owner is scary. | |
Regis Salons | Inside Carl Sandburg Mall | $20 | Weekdays and weekends | High turnover so your favorite hair-stylist may be gone next time you're there. |
On the Quality of Haircuts Available in Galesburg[edit]
The stylist at Hairetcetera can cut your hair "square" or "in an oval". She can cut it an inch shorter than it already is, a skill which she will demonstrate by showing you what an inch looks like by holding her thumb and forefinger to her comb. She does not know how to trim the style already on your head, a terrible thing Jill Bergantz discovered when she went in search of a Real Galesburg Haircut. She will never make that mistake again.
