A visiting instructor in the Philosophy Department, Dan Wack (sometimes referred to as "Daddy Wack") was arch-nemesis of Martin Roth due to incompatible philosophical outlooks. Dan Wack is currently on the way to achieving tenure. Many undergraduate girls have been known to think he's totally dreamy. Their hopes were dashed Winter 2012 when he announced his engagement.

Years at Knox: 2005 to present. That is to say, Martin Roth had held philosophical precedent for two years before his departure.

Dan's areas of focus are aesthetics, ethics, and philosophy of film.

Classes[edit]

Professor Wack's teaching style is primarily lecture-based, a famously unpopular style among liberal arts faculty, who prefer the ridiculous method that involves asking students to steer discussion. In these lectures he often displays his profound understanding of, and/or preparation for, the philosophical texts up for discussion. It appears to be hit or miss with students depending on a complex measure determined by adding their level of interest in philosophy to their drive to get an A, divided by their willingness to come to class at all.

Wack is well known as the professor who coughs every three words. He should probably receive medical attention since this ailment does not seem to be going away on its own. He is rarely seen without a cup of coffee from Innkeepers, and his coveted hairstyle is the product of constant adjustment while deeply pondering philosophical questions posed by that one student who actually pays attention during his lecture.

Education[edit]

Dan Wack received his PhD. from the University of Chicago, and received his B.A. from Amherst College in 1995. He went to Clayton High School in Clayton, Missouri.
