The Physics Department is one of eighteen academic departments at Knox. It offers one major and one minor. The department is located in SMC.

Physics (major)[edit]

This major allows advanced study in physics.

Courses Required for the Physics major[2][edit]

11 credits:

  • All of the following:
  • One of the following:
    • PHYS 130 (Electricity and Magnetism)
    • PHYS 130A (Electricity and Magnetism – Algebra-based)
  • Two of the following:
  • Four additional credits in courses at the 200-, 300-, or 400-level

Physics (minor)[edit]

This minor allows for intermediate study in physics.

Courses Required for the Physics minor[3][edit]

5 credits:

  • All of the following:
  • One of the following:
    • PHYS 130 (Electricity and Magnetism)
    • PHYS 130A (Electricity and Magnetism – Algebra-based)
  • Two additional credits in the department approved by the chair, one of which must be at or above 300-level
