ECON 110, also known as Principles of Microeconomics, is a beginning economics course offered at Knox. It counts for 1 credit. The course is taught by Roy Andersen, Jonathan Powers, Carol Scotton, or Richard Stout.

Official Course Description[edit]

"Microeconomics is concerned with the behavior of the individual economic agents - consumers, households and businesses - that make up the overall economy. The goal of this course is to introduce students to the analytical tools and techniques used by economists to better understand the choices that economic agents make and how markets function. This course also provides an introduction to fields that apply microeconomics such as environmental economics, international trade, industrial organization, labor economics and public finance."[1]

Credits and Prerequisites[edit]

The course is worth one credit. This course counts toward satisfying the History and Social Sciences Foundation Requirement. The course is required to complete a major or minor in Economics. There is no prerequisite.

The course consists primarily of lecture on the various topics of microeconomics, form supply and demand to externalities and so forth. There are several exams and a final, all in economics-problem form, with some essay work.
