Soda vs. Pop debate
This is the most insipid debate in the history of the world, and it was started at the dawn of time. Not to be confused with the Cola Wars, the Soda vs. Pop debate is about so much more than Coke and Pepsi. It has been the instigator of over a thousand epic battles.
Epic Battles[edit]
It may seem shocking that a simple thing like word choice might lead to so many fatalities, but when your term for carbonated sugar-water is threatened, unmitigated belligerence is the only logical response. Here's a classic example of a soda vs. pop-related epic battle:
(Scene: The Gizmo. Person A has just ordered a #3 combo, that is, a hot dog, chips, and a small beverage. Person B is working behind the counter, cooking and serving various epicurean delights as Gizmo workers tend to do.)
Person A: Sir, you seem to have forgotten my soda cup.
Person B: I believe you mean "pop". I will get that for you right away.
Person A: No, I meant "soda". I am from the East Coast and I demand soda.
Person B: You live in the Midwest now, and we call it "pop" here.
Graham Troyer-Joy: Melon ketchup!
Persons A and B: Shut up, you!
Graham: Okay.
Person A: Soda!
Person B: Pop!
Person A: I challege you to a duel!
Person B: But I left my steel at home!
Person A: Too bad, jerkface! (ka-stab!)

Semantics[edit]
Some people refuse to engage in this debate, recognizing that both "soda" and "pop" are derived from "soda pop", the old fashioned term for flavored carbonated sugar water.
Facebook[edit]
The Soda vs. Pop debate has largely manifested on Facebook, as people find it necessary to take time out of their busy lives to start Facebook groups concerning this subject. There are nine soda vs. pop themed groups in the Knox network alone.
