Sunrise, formerly Tequila Sunrise, is the official party kickoff of the year at Sigma Nu.

Sunrise 2007[edit]

Sunrise 2007 was a record-breaking year at Sigma Nu, with a total of 370 people signing in (the line to get in stretched from the back door to the sidewalk all the way around the house). The party can only be described as epic, drawing crowds with its accessibility and advertising campaign. Virgin Tequila Sunrises were popular at the non-alcoholic bar, and the dance floor was filled to capacity.

Rather than the usual gangsta rap and hip-hop that dominates most parties, Sigma Nu's recent DJs have instead played a mix of European dance like Daft Punk and Justice, and old-school funk classics from George Clinton and Parliament. Dragostea Din Tei (Numa Numa) was also played, apparently in tribute to Sigma Nu's perceived nerdiness. Surprisingly, the dance floor stayed full for the duration of the song.
