 Alpha Sigma Alpha has three philanthropies: The Special Olympics, The S. June Smith Center and Girls on the Run. The S. June Smith Center supports children with developmental needs through education, therapeutic services, and family-centered programming. Girls on the Run encourages girls to learn about health, teamwork, responsibility, and leadership through a running curriculum. The women of Alpha Sigma Alpha support these philanthropies in a variety of ways.
-During winter term, they host an annual Yule Ball (2011) to raise money for the S. June Smith Center. This event was inspired by ATP's 2009 Yule Ball, which raised over $1000 for Cooke Elementary School in Galesburg. Alpha Sigs also participate annually in the Polar Plunge and came in second for overall fund raising in Galesburg in 2011, raising $2,911.46.[1].
