 Beginning in 2003, Knox saw an explosion of students playing independent, underground rock music.  After Oedipus & the Motherfuckers took shape in 2003, several students began to take notice of making Knox an inhabitable place to play [[punk]], [[indie]], and other pejorative genres of music.  This led to the creation of new bands, including [[The Corners]], [[Daphne the Musical]], [[Wolf Blitzer]], [[Lightspeed]], [[The Hoot Hoots]], and the many faces of [[Firas Alexandar]].  Filling up basements, local bars, house parties, Wallace Lounge, & the Gizmo patio, these bands provided Knox with a healthy dose of creative and original music.
