The program head is Director [[Sarah Moschenross]]. Associate Dean of the College [[Steve Bailey]] also has a significant role in administering the program.

The McNair program targets lower-income American students, specifically first-generation college students and students from underrepresented groups. At least ten students per class are selected. The program includes additional advising sessions and preparatory work for [[graduate school]]. The program culminates in a large research project.

Eligible students are invited to attend an informational session during [[winter term]], and final selection is made at the end of that term.

The McNair Program office is located in [[SMC]] D207.
