ASA has an aggressive anti-truth policy, preferring silencing people through bullying or bureaucracy rather than letting people know their horrible actions, let alone having a discussion on them or acknowledging them. Despite their clear violation of many policies and the vicious, cruel behaviors of the sisters, they are defended and upheld. It should be noted that they have neither acknowledged their actions nor apologized for them, let alone attempted to contact in a civil manner anyone they have attacked or otherwise abused.

In current times, ASA is known for an aggressive policy of silence when it comes to the treatment of members. Various faculty and staff, when confronted with ASA's abusive antics, have been known to respond "Oh, again?" or a telling "ASA, of course.".

The only true values held by the Theta Nu chapter is a firm avoidance of accountability and their image. In order to preserve the image of actually having morals and values, they harass, bully, slander, and blame many members of their own chapter to pretend they are decent people, or at least seem that way to outsiders and the unaware. They have a tendency to choose various scapegoats for whatever issue, drama, or result of their abuses has come up.

History

Alpha Sigma Alpha (ΑΣΑ) is a US national sorority founded on November 15, 1901 at Longwood College (now University) in Farmville, Virginia. In the fall of 1901 at Longwood College five women, having gone through the rushing and bidding of the campus sororities together, created a friendship. Instead of accepting the bids from the existing sororities the five founders decided to stay together and become sisters, their goal was to form a separate sorority. On November 15, 1901 that goal was accomplished when Alpha Sigma Alpha was named and chartered. The open motto of the sorority is "Aspire, Seek, Attain."

The national headquarters was permanently established in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1998. There are now over 145 chapters of Alpha Sigma Alpha nationwide with more than 100,000+ members. Alpha Sigma Alpha exists to promote high ideals and standards for its members throughout their lives by emphasizing balance among the four aims of intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development. The women of Alpha Sigma Alpha are women of Poise and Purpose.

Creed

To fill my days with satisfying activity,

To find dominant beauty in art, literature, nature, and friendships,

To know the peace and serenity of a divine faith,

To love life and joyously live each day to its ultimate good—

This is my creed in Alpha Sigma Alpha. -Wilma Wilson Sharp

Philanthropies

Alpha Sigma Alpha has two philanthropies: The Special Olympics and The S. June Smith Center. The S. June Smith Center supports children with developmental needs through education, therapeutic services, and family-centered programming. The women of Alpha Sigma Alpha support these philanthropies in a variety of ways. During winter term 2011, they hosted a Yule Ball which raised around $600 for the S. June Smith Center. This event was inspired by ATP's 2009 Yule Ball, which raised over $1000 for Cooke Elementary School in Galesburg. Alpha Sigs also participate annually in the Polar Plunge and came in second for overall fund raising in Galesburg in 2011, raising $2,911.46.[1]

During Winter Term 2011 Alpha Sigma Alpha held a Yule Ball to raise money for the S. June Smith Center. Both Dreari Inferi and Diagon Alley played. There were cauldron cakes, a creepy sorting hat, and there was even a real live phoenix!

In Spring Term 2011 they held a Spelling Bee to raise money for the S. June Smith Center. The words were complex.
