Often described as a mixture of severe drunken activity and high stress every term, for one night just before or during finals. Dining Services prepares a breakfast at midnight (actually a little before then), opens the doors, and lets the students (finished/drunk or not/stressed) in, where they are corralled under heavy fluorescent lights into lines where they pick up plates loaded with eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Faculty used to traditionally serve Midnight Breakfast, but now it's usually some Dining Services workers and some Jr. High aged kids.

Recently, students have been seen running naked, food fighting (which in spring 2007 turned into table-toppling fighting), and dancing on the tables. Why Dining Services continues this tradition remains a mystery to many.

They make you leave your backpacks at the door. People who are too nice for their own good think it's because they want you to take an honest break from studying and do this by forcing you to briefly abandon your textbook. Realists and real people know it's because they know your backpack is actually filled with alcohol.
