About the Diva Cup[edit]

Diva cups are Alternative Menstrual Products that collect rather than absorb blood like tampons. Diva cups are made from silicone and can last you up to your entire menstruating life! There are two sizes to the Diva cup, 1 and 2. Size one is good for a woman who has not had a baby, size two is for a woman who has had a baby.

How to use the diva cup[edit]

  • wash your hands
  • Fold the diva cup in half
  • Fold the diva cup in half again, creating a "U" shape
  • Insert and twist the diva cup so it pops open
  • To remove insert two fingers to pull out
  • Dump out the blood in the toilet
  • Rinse and reinsert

Pros and Cons[edit]

Pros[edit]

  • $30 and lasts as long as you need it (Compare that to a $10 box of tampons that lasts one period)
  • You may keep the diva cup in for up to 12 hours
  • Rarely (if ever) leaks
  • Eco-friendly
  • Reduces risk of TSS because it does not absorb blood
  • Does not contain dioxin
  • You can see exactly how much you bleed during your cycle

Cons[edit]

  • Takes a period or two to get used to inserting and removing

I Love my Diva Cup![edit]

"I use the diva cup and will never go back to tampons. While it did take me about two months to get the hang of using my diva cup, I now find it a life saver. I only have to change my diva cup twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. It is easy and comfortable. I don't notice it at all. I also realized how much plastic and waste I am saving just by looking at my trash can. When I was using tampons it always showed it in my trashcan with the boxes, applicators and wrappers. Now with the diva cup there is no extra trash! I love using a product that is better for my body and the earth!"
