Monica Berlin graduated from [[Knox]] in 1995 and taught in the English Department for about 25 years.

Monica Berlin loves poetry, her husband Jeremy Karlin (who is a good lawyer (in case you need one), and her son Eli.  She graduated from [[Knox]] during a year in the 90s and currently teaches [[creative writing]]: [[poetry]], [[fiction]], life.
  
In 2003 Monica was awarded the Philip Green Wright-Lombard College Prize for Distinguished Teaching, considered to be the highest honor that the Knox faculty confers upon its members.

Monica is from [[Chicago]] and used to work at a bakery on the north side, where she was once covered in maple syrup (she cannot eat this).  Her identical twin sister used to own a delicious restaurant in [[Chicago]] called The Pepper Longue, which is now closed.  It is in Wrigleyville.  You should go there.  
  
In 2007 Monica won a young alumni achievement award from [[Knox]], and her poems were published in many places, including ''Manthology'', although she is not a man.

In 2009 Monica received tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor. In 2020, she was promoted to Full Professor. She also served as the Associate Director of the Program in Creative Writing.
