Editing The Gizmo

The Gizmo (also known as the Jizmo) is [[Knox College]]'s principal manufacturing plant for [[Breakfast Bagel|breakfast bagels]] and other sundry [[Food|food]] items.  It employs a host of [[Work-Study|work-study]] workers, whom are generally recognized to be at the top of the [[Dining Services]] [[work-study]] prestige chain.  It isn't that great of a chain to be on.  Students who work at the Gizmo are said to be some of the most congenial, funniest and attractive students at [[Knox College]].

Gizmo workers who have mastered their job (attained Level 10 Giz-fu) will tell you that there is a subtle and delicate art to their profession. Outsiders will scoff, but they will know in their hearts it is true when someone without Giz-fu completely bungles their sub or [[pizza bagel]]. True Gizmo workers also know that when someone orders a smoothie with both flavors, it is proper to layer the flavors multiple times.

The Gizmo is attached to [[Seymour Union]], with entrances from Seymour and outside.  It adjoins the [[Gizmo Patio]], which was once an ice rink, and is now a good place for listening to [[Cat Power]].

==Gizmo Staff==
The previous staff of the Gizmo were [[Jo Ann Gibbons|Pinky]], [[Linda McCormack|Linda]], [[Laurie Bush|Laurie]], [[Rosaria Rodriguez|Rose]], and [[Irma Alvarez|Irma]].  Former staff include [[Jodi Larson|Jodi]], [[Sue Swanson|Sue]] and [[Pam Hickey|Pam]]. 

The current staff includes [[Lorena Blackman]], [[Keisha Davis]], [[Penny (Satan)]], and [[Laurie Bush]] who is still there from the original O.G. Squad.

Rose was scheduled to have a baby May 15, 2007, but instead wound up working through her due date. As of 8:03 p.m. May 17, 2007, there had been no word of Rose's baby. Various employees of the Gizmo have suggested that she give the baby - a girl - the middle name Gizmo.

==Gizmo and the Environment==
The Gizmo uses cups and plates that are biodegradable, and they do offer refills to students who use reusable mugs. As of late, you also must seperate your waste into three categories (landfill, recyclable and conpostable) and you better do it right!

==Heat lamps==
Every winter until 2006, heat lamps were installed on the Gizmo patio. They were wonderful, especially if you smoke. However, they used lots of energy, sometimes exploded a little and the area under them got really gross.

The debate should officially end this year, when the state-wide smoking ban outlaws smoking within 15 feet of any public doorway.
==Trivia==
The Gizmo accepts a number of common special orders that together constitute a sort of secret menu.  The most common of these in recent years has been the Breakfast Croissant.  The cash register touchscreen has not kept up with these innovations, so they make life difficult for the cashiers.

Gizmo employees know you're a [[Prospective Student|prospie]] if you take a tray from the rack next to the cash register.

The most disgusting thing at the Gizmo is the pickle vat, a five-gallon bucket (like the ones for paint) full of pickles and vinegar.  The second most disgusting thing is the bag of nacho cheese in the cheese dispenser, especially when it's hot.

Gizmo is a relaxed, cozy place to interview someone for an assignment or to conduct small study sessions.

There is usually (if not always) at least one [[gay]] male in the gizmo at all times.

==Mascot==
While the Gizmo does not have an official mascot, a small group of students and student Gizmo employees adopt the spirit of [[Gizmo Gil]], a cheery entity who embodies fried food, fun, and scholarship in a social and diverse atmosphere. Once [[Rosaria Rodriguez|Rose]] has her baby, the baby might become the mascot, as Rose worked up to and including her due date.
