Duane Oldfield has served as a professor of political science at Knox since 1995. He recieved his BA from Reed College and did his PhD at University of California, Berkeley. He has a funny voice and his hair is highly reminiscent of Charlie Brown, but he is really nice. He is married to Karen Kampwirth.

Oldfield's research interests center on social movements, particularly the Christian Right, and globalization; at Knox, Oldfield has taught courses on religion and politics, social movements, urban politics, and democracy and globalization. The first two courses are cross-listed in the religious studies and anthropology and sociology departments, respectively.

Oldfield's book The Right and the Righteous: The Christian Right Confronts the Republican Party was published in 1996.
