Karen Kampwirth is a professor of political science at Knox and the chair of the Latin American studies program. Kampwirth is a Knox alum who recieved her PhD in political science from the University of California at Berkeley. Kampwirth teaches courses on comparative politics, Latin American politics, comparative revolutions, global anti-feminism, and Al-Quaeda.
In addition to authoring several articles, Kampwirth has published two books - Feminism and the Legacy of Revolution: Nicaragua, El Salvador, Chiapas in 2004 and Women and Guerrilla Movements: Nicaragua, El Salvador, Chiapas, Cuba in 2002.
While a professor at Knox, Kampwirth has previously served as the advisor to the Latin American Concerns Committee, a now-defunct HRC club. As a student at Knox, Kampwirth was involved with anti-apartheid and divestment activism.
Karen Kampwirth is a tough, demanding, but fair professor who expects a lot from her students.
