RAGER AT ECOHOUSE BREAK THE FLOOR
Eco House and Jazz House are the only two permanent theme houses on the Knox Campus. Eco House is located at 675 S. West St., between Casa Latina and the Asian Cultural House, right next to the soccer field. People who apply to live at the Eco House are typically ecologically conscious: they compost their food waste using worms and tumblers, recycle and reuse everything they can, make their own green cleaning supplies, use low-flow faucets, run a house garden and a community garden which they water with rain collected from the roof in barrels, let it mellow if it's yellow, and generally do their best to reduce their ecological footprint.
Eco House residents try to share as much as they can to save energy and promote community. They share and rotate house chores, carpool when they can't ride their bikes, and cook many of their meals in the kitchen of the house.
Some members of the Eco House are vegetarians or vegans. Many of them either work or volunteer at the Knox Farm
Notable Features
Eco House, by dint of having been around for so long, has several fun features. One of these is the living room floor, which functions almost as a trampoline if too many people are standing on it at once. One time during a particular raucous Hobosang, the Eco House TV was knocked over and broken. In addition, one of the toilets in Eco House bears a sinister name. There is also a groundhog living in the basement, which frequently floods.
