The Knox College chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (ΦΒΚ) was founded in 1916 — the fourth-oldest in Illinois and the oldest at a liberal arts college in the state.

Membership is based on academic achievement. Most inductees are seniors; a limited number of especially outstanding students may be elected at the end of their junior year.[1]
