Mariko Toyoji was born on September 28, 1985 in a remote seacoast village.  From an early age, she aspired to be Japan's next great Iron Chef.  She trained diligently with a legendary cleaver fashioned from the tears of the sea god Susanou and a cutting board inherited from the moon god Tsukuyomi.  In the mountains of Washington, Toyoji honed her mind and body to master the cooking instruments of the gods, discovering the secret essence of spices.  Combining traditional cooking arts with the innovations of the 21st Century, she developed such fan-crazed dishes as "super anko-combo microwave-style mochi."  Only a true Japanese native can rival Toyoji's skill in boiling green tea leaves.

Legend has it that while the ruler of the Third Glorious Japanese Club Dynasty was ailing from anxiety-driven illnesses, Toyoji prepared a forbidden dish rumored to grant immunity to the demons of homework: the "burning dragon of the east heavens kimchi pizza delight."  The spices employed in the creation of this dish are so dangerous that many foolish and unskilled chefs have forsaken their lives in attempting to make it.  However, Toyoji's noble heart guided her in this dangerous endeavor; by combining the tranquil elements of Japanese mayonnaise with the intense and unforgiving passion of kimchi, she became the youngest chef to successfully bake the "burning dragon of the east heavens kimchi pizza delight."  As a reward for her compassion and skill, Toyoji was granted the royal crown and became ruler of the Fourth Majestic Japanese Club Dynasty.  In a time of cooking crisis, Japanese Club always looks to President Toyoji to ride into the field of battle with her cleaver in one hand, her cutting board in the other.

Fashion Genius
In her third year training at the prestigious Knox College, Toyoji took an expedition to the country Japan to seek enlightenment.  During her travels, she acquired several pieces of clothing that earned her the admiration of fashion aficionados the world over, particularly a red labcoat and yellow cowboy boots. The yellow cowboy boots were purchased before her trip to Japan, that does not in anyway undermine their greatness.  Her experience and wardrobe eventually inspired the masterpieces exhibited at the Japanese Club fashion show of Spring Term 2007.
