The costume shop is usually a hub of activity - particularly during rep term.

Anyone who can thread a serger or create patterns from measurements is always welcome. For most main stage theatre productions, anywhere from ten to fifty different costumes will be created.

For period pieces, most of these costumes are created from scratch. Employees and students work long into the evening and early on Saturdays to get the work done.

Coffee used to be brewed often until costume shop employees and theater students (exceptMargo Shively ) stopped drinking it regularly.
