11:11 Call me a no-spirit douche but something is telling me this is the last year the administration will think that the students deserve the privilege of a flunk day. <---Seriously. Everyone is acting like this is something owed to them.<---Agreed.  I almost wonder if we aren't on the verge of losing this year's flunk. <---- If they try to take flunk away this year or after, they should look at Coe College's Flunk Day (yes they also have a Flunk Day) where the school provides kegs. The shenanigans we get up to are nothing compared to them. <--- Does that really matter? This is something provided to us by Knox, on their terms, and on their insurance dime as well, along with the cost of cleaning up after everyone's drunk asses. <---- exactly, Plenty of colleges do something similar. I don't know if you know this but logical arguments don't work for everyone. If we give the college a good enough reason to take away the flunk, they will. It won't matter if Monmouth starts handing out free blunts on their "Scott's day", flunk day will be dead for us.<----these people speak the truth.  I really wish people would realize how lucky we are to have a school that'll put itself out there (both financially and spiritually) for us to have a good time.  this is something that can be gone in a SECOND. <---OK, who invited all you Debbie Downers to the party? Yes, Flunk Day is a privilege, and it is something that can be taken away at any time. But look at the bigger picture right now!  For one thing, everything is payed for. They wouldn't cancel Flunk Day on us now. For another, is the mud pit, which is simultaneously an awesome tradition of Flunk Day and a bit of a hot button topic in relation to Flunk day, really something that they would cancel future Flunk Days over? NO! It's about our conduct on the day. Now stop being sad, and start getting PSYCHED! <-- It's not just a question of this year, but of future years of flunking. Have a fantastic day of flunk, but be a respectful, grateful adult as well. I do hope you have an excellent flunk day, sir. <-- I'm just a lowly first-year, and I have no idea what to make of this "hot-button topic". On one side: Cool! Knox kids are being all "let's unite! Yeah! Mud! Dirt! Cool!". On the other hand, the college is going to be like "Really, guys? Too much. This is getting out of hand". I don't know how Post-Flunk Day actually works, but what if we all pitched in to help clean up the mudpit? We destroy that one patch of land every year, so it wouldn't hurt to at least help clean it up? Or do we already? I don't know. I just want Flunk Day.

11:12 PM (Retrospectively). The Flunk Day Gnomes have seen fit to undermine the naysayers in the hopes of keeping Flunk Spirit alive and well.

Does everyone REALLY think what the school has done this year is so far off from what has been done in the past? I understand the concern, and the fact that this is a privilege, but unless Amott is the biggest Debbie Downer this school has seen in 176 years, I don't think they would take something away that is so dear to alumni, current students, and much of the faculty.<---Do I think they would?  Probably not.  But is there ANYTHING stopping them?  No.<---Millions of dollars in alumni donations is stopping them.<---- FLUNK. Flunk Flunky Flunk Flunk Flunk Flunk <-- Check out "The Mud Pit" section on Flunk Day 2007: http://thewikifire.org/index.php?title=Flunk_Day_2007#The_Mud_Pit  This has happened before, to the extent of students lying in the pit to prevent sand being emptied onto it. Every year the school tries to stop the mud pit and every year students make it happen anyway. Maybe some year the school will try harder to prevent it from happening. But they will never TAKE AWAY Flunk Day. What do you mean there's nothing stopping them? The alumni donations, first of all, as mentioned above. Also, Flunk Day is a tradition that is over a hundred years old. It is beloved and also a CRUCIAL aspect of Knox's identity. It is an enormous draw for prospective students, and was even the first thing I ever learned about Knox while I looked for schools. Knox has so, so much to lose by taking it away. And they certainly would never do it over something as relatively trivial as the Mud Pit.
