Nightlife

Nightlife is a band at Knox College, formerly known as Oedipus and the Motherfuckers. Their genre could be described as Knoxcore (kXc), a fresh and inviting sound derived from their four-year tenure at the institution. Current members include: Brooks Johnson, Will Faber, Steuart Pittman, Peter Burghardt, & Timmy Rairdon (who replaced former drummer Ryan Fitzgerald).

Trivia

• Nightlife has been the house band for Anti-Philosophy Club's annual prom.
• Under the moniker of Oedipus & the Motherfuckers, Nightlife played Dan Morgridge's ill-fated Meltymedia improv show dressed as robots.
• Bassist Peter Burghardt once saw a two-headed girl while lifeguarding in Minnesota.
• Exists as a secular front for the far more politically and religiously motivated Right To Life.

The Knox "Scene"

Beginning in 2003, Knox saw an explosion of students playing independent, underground rock music. After Oedipus & the Motherfuckers took shape in 2003, several students began to take notice of making Knox an inhabitable place to play punk, indie, and other pejorative genres of music. This led to the creation of new bands, including The Corners, Daphne the Musical, Wolf Blitzer, Lightspeed, The Hoot Hoots, and the many faces of Firas Alexandar. Filling up basements, local bars, house parties, Wallace Lounge, & the Gizmo patio, these bands provided Knox with a healthy dose of creative and original music.
