The true origins of "gurganaut" are unknown. It is believed that "gurganaut" was derived from the following formula:
Galesburg --> G-burg --> Gurg --> Gurganaut
Gurganaut refers to a native of Galesburg. You may have read about the Huguenots of the 16th-18th centuries in a history class; Gurganauts are the complete opposite, with more meth and less Calvinism.
