Maryland

Maryland is a narrow state on the East Coast of the continental U.S. The only famous person to ever come from there since the late 19th century is Spiro Agnew. Contrary to popular belief, Maryland is not a city in Washington, D.C., although it is its safety blanket. Much as people who live in Chicago suburbs claim to be from the city itself, Marylanders claim to be from Washington, D.C.

The state flower is the black-eyed Susan. The Orioles are terrible, and no one has cared about them since Cal Ripken left.
