Maryland

Maryland is a narrow state on the East Coast of the continental U.S. The only famous people to ever come from there since the late 19th century are Spiro Agnew and John Waters. Contrary to popular belief, Maryland is not a city in Washington, D.C., although it is its safety blanket. Much as people who live in Chicago suburbs claim to be from the city itself, Marylanders claim to be from Washington, D.C.

The state flower is the black-eyed Susan. The Orioles are terrible, and no one has cared about them since Cal Ripken left.
