A visiting instructor to the Philosophy Department, Dan Wack is arch-nemesis of Martin Roth due to incompatible philosophical outlooks. Dan Wack is currently on the way to acheiving tenure.
Years at Knox: 2005 to present. That is to say, Martin Roth has held philosophical precedent for two more years.
Education
Dan Wack received his ABD from the University of Chicago, and his B.A. from Amherst College in 1995.
Mannerisms
Dan Wack is known on campus for his very pronounced mannerisms. Some students think these are the annoying habits of an airy professor, but others understand that a philosopher has no time to fret about his outward habits when issues of morality and mortality are foremost in ones mind. These habits include:
- A constant running of the his hand through his hair. Some claim he cut his hair in order to curb this activity.
- The "Chalk Ash", a mannerism that is similar to ashing a cigarette, but with plain blackboard chalk. There is much speculation as to whether this mannerism applies to dry erase markers as well.
- The hand wave, which, when holding chalk, is very similar to "rocking out".
- Pacing.
