Jazz house
Jazz House is a two story home next to apartments. It houses nine students, preferably members of the jazz ensemble or jazz combos; however, in recent years a lack of interest has placed several non-musicians into the house. During Rootabaga jazz festival guest artists stay in the jazz house.
Parties
Jazz House parties are most commonly noted for loud, percussion heavy, experimental music performed by members of the jazz ensemble, campus bands (such as Nightlife and Wolf Blitzer, and out of town groups.
=Problems
Jazz House parties are very loud. Wear ear plugs and expect a noise violation to shut down the fun just as you're getting into the scene. If you don't like warm, sweaty, drunk bodies slamming up against one another, do not go to the jazz house. This is a mild form of moshing. The jazz house is a good place to carry around big bottles of fancy alcohol and smoke hookah and marijuana. Some students complain that jazz house parties often become mere hipster hot-beds in which trendy kids sit around and revel in their awesomeness. It's up to you...
