Galesburg used to have a Maytag plant. After Bill Clinton signed the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement in 1994, the plant moved to Mexico and a lot of locals lost their jobs. Mark Ridolfi's Interactive Journalism class is doing a blogging project about this, since Clinton is coming to speak here pretty soon. Check out their website.
