Official Course Description
"An exploration of the enduring philosophical questions regarding the nature of reality, the existence of the external world, the extent of human freedom, the existence of God, the definition of the Good and its relevance to the moral life, and the principles of social and political organization."[1]

The course is worth one credit. It satisfies the Humanities Foundation Requirement. There is no prerequisite.

Course Format

The course intersperses lecture with discussion, such that the discussion leads the lectures. Several different philosophical ideas and philosophers are explored, including questions of how one knows, how one knows that one knows, and so on. There is a midterm and a final with paragraph-answer and essay questions.
