Wynken, Blynken, and Nod
Wynken, Blynken, and Nod is Knox's online magazine for children's literature, and is part of the Quiver webzine collective. You should submit (we really want picture books).
Name
Wynken, Blynken, and Nod is named after the famous poem by celebrated children's poet Eugene Field (1850-1895), who attended Knox from 1869 to 1871. His independent, free-spirited personality was apparently too much for the conservative college of the 19th century and he left without completing a degree. After Knox, he dabbled in acting and studied law before making a foray into journalism, and it was as a newspaper editor and columnist that he made his living. In the second half of his short life, he began to write poems for children, and in 1893 the college acknowledged his unique contribution to American literature by awarding him an honorary degree. We are happy to recognize Field once again in the 21st century by naming this publication in his honor.
