Bethel Baptist Church is located at 1196 N. Academy Street, near the corner of Academy and Freemont. The discourse and worship style employed by the church mark them as evangelical/conservative Protestants.

Galesburg's Swedish Baptist Church was founded in 1888; their original church was constructed on Chambers Street in 1989. The church's name was changed to North Chambers Baptist Church in 1937 and to Bethel Baptist in 1950. The Bethel Baptist Church on Academy was erected between 1952 and 1956.
