The basics
Bill Mayeroff is a member of the Knox class of 2007. A rabid Chicago White Sox fan who constantly argues with Jon Cahow about baseball and why Cahow's pro-Mac worldview makes no sense (For the record, Cahow disagrees with this sentiment), he started out as a theater major and got sucked into the world of The Knox Student as a sophomore. He took over the Mosaic section as a sophomore and the following year moved to News. During spring term of his junior year, he was named the editor-in-chief for the 2006-2007 school year. He took over in May of 2006 and ended his tenure on May 17, 2007 and handed the reins over to Tom Fucoloro.

Musical career
But newspapers are not the only thing taking up Mayeroff's time. He spends his free time writing and recording countrified acoustic rock songs and covers of pop hits with his friend, partner in crime, and hetero life-mate Evan Sawdey. Together, the duo is known as Three Car Garage. The band formed one night after a party as a one-time event. But after listening to the music they recorded on Sawdey's computer, they knew they again had to record under the Three Car Garage moniker. Samples of the music can be found on the band's MySpace page. The band has been downloaded all over the world. Three Car Garage is not to be confused with 3CG, which is a Christian rap group, with such hits as "Holy Ghost Stomp."

Mayeroff and his unhealthy love of the Beatles
Mayeroff is also the host of Bill's Beatles Bonanza on WVKC. Since he was a freshman, he has hosted the show almost every term and it was Galesburg radio's only solid block of the Beatles. During spring term, 2007, Mayeroff expanded the show to two hours.

The last episode of Bill's Beatles Bonanza aired on May 26, 2007. The last episode, ironically, was also the first time Mayeroff played Beatles songs for a live studio audience. The finale covered the entire musical catalog of the Fab Four (including songs recorded after the band broke up), as well as a selection of covers by bands from the New Grass Revival to the Spongetones. The show opened with the song "Magical Mystery Tour" - the title track of 1967's Magical Mystery Tour LP. The last two songs played were "The End" off the Abbey Road album and "Hello Goodbye" from side two of the Magical Mystery Tour LP.

Bill and body modification
The Beatles are not Mayeroff's only vice. Mayeroff also enjoys using his body as a canvas, whether via putting holes in it and filling them with curved pieces of metal or via tattooing pieces of art directly onto it. Though he currently only has two tattoos and four piercings, he is always in the market for more.

Bill and dogs
Mayeroff has lived with dogs his entire life and was a volunteer at the Knox County Humane Society during his years at Knox. Mayeroff can often be found in the middle of debates over whether pit bulls are too dangerous to keep as pets or whether proper training can overcome what some people claim is inherently aggressive behavior in dogs.

Beyond Knox
Mayeroff's college career ended early in the morning on May 27, 2007 when he printed out the last paper of his college career for his American Presidency class.

After school, Mayeroff began to pursue a career in journalism. On July 25, 2007, after only five weeks at his job at a weekly paper in Chicago, Mayeroff accepted a position at the Moline Dispatch/Rock Island Argus to cover East Moline and Silvis. It was suggested at a meeting of the staff of The Knox Student that he was the most likely staffer to die in the pursuit of a story. He lives in a small apartment in the Quad Cities with his guinea pig, Antigone.
