COVID-19
COVID-19, or Coronavirus, is a global pandemic that started spreading in the US in the year 2020.
It has postponed/suspended many things around the world and Knox is no exception, as it has caused us to go online for Spring of 2020, and additionally caused us to be in a hybrid state for the 2020-2021 year. Many changes occurred on campus, such as everyone wearing masks, the caf going to shit, and classes being over zoom.
Specific Knox changes are documented at Knox's Community Guidelines for COVID-19.
On March 12th 2020 Teresa Amott, our president, announced:
"After consultation with many members of the Knox community, including our Board of Trustees and faculty leadership, we have made the decision to extend spring break by one week and then to teach online for at least the first half of spring term. We hope that we can resume in-person classes and activities for the second half, but will make that decision later as we assess the risks to our community health."
Along with this change, spring seasons for sports have been cancelled.
The seniors are screwed basically, many are worried about graduation, and those with honors most likely cannot continue.
Friends are saying goodbye and not knowing when they will see each other again. Seniors are aware that this may be the last time they see some of their friends, as it is unknown if Knox will welcome students back before graduation.
It is a very surreal experience for Knox and for the world.

On March 25th 2020 Teresa Amott, our president, announced:
"Because of the accelerating COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing stay-at-home order from the State of Illinois, Knox College has made the decision to teach the entirety of spring term remotely to minimize further disruption and uncertainty for our students and faculty and to play our part in minimizing transmission of the virus."
On March 27th, 2020, Knox County had its first tested case of COVID-19, a man in his 50s. Probably not a Knox student.
