Cat lady
Cat ladies are women who have lots of cats, but have poor or nonexistent social lives. (This statement is very untrue, because cat ladies have many cats to socialize with, duh.)
Toxoplasma gandii[edit]
Crazy Cat Lady Syndrome may be the result of the brain parasite toxoplasma gandii.[1] Toxoplasma gandii is most commonly transferred through handling cat feces or eating undercooked meat. It is estimated that 60 million people in the United States are infected with the disease, which may be a contributing factor to schizophrenia.[2]
Studies have also shown that rats with the disease were less likely to be frightened of the scent of cat urine than those without it. Some theorize that the disease may, therefore, be able to explain the actions of people who may be irrationally drawn to the company of cats.[3]
