Democracy at Knox

The Knox College student body used to have a democratic body called Student Senate. However, the body passed a resolution this year requiring candidates for Student Senate President to have been a member of Senate for at least three terms (one year) before running. Then the Executive Board decided that its members should have full authority over which resolutions were allowed to be debated in public on the Senate floor. This effectively turned Senate into something that looks sort of like democracy, but is not quite there.

The student body is still waiting for Senate to reverse these decisions.
