Summer Break 2006 was part of the 2006-2007 school year, running from June 4 to September 2, 2006.

On-Campus[edit]

  • August 7 – Faculty member Gina Franco was awarded the Meralmikjen Fellowship in Poetry, and as a result gave a reading at the Bread Loaf Writer's Conference in Vermont on August 21.
  • August 11 – Knox was once again included in the latest edition of the book Colleges That Change Lives.
  • August 13 – Football team members return to campus for the school year. New football player orientation.
  • August 15 – Washington Monthly magazine ranked Knox 23rd among liberal arts colleges based on community service, research, and commitment to affordable education.
  • August 18 – US News & World Report rankings come out. Knox is ranked 79th among liberal arts colleges.
  • August 29 – New international students arrive on campus.
  • August 29-31 – International student orientation
  • August 30 – Knox announces that US District Court Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow will deliver the Opening Convocation address.
  • August 30 – Princeton Review college rankings come out: Knox is ranked as one of 163 "Best in the Midwest," and scores #14 overall for "Students Happy with Financial Aid" and #10 for "Great Radio Station.
  • New non-traditional students arrive on campus. Non-traditional student orientation.
