* 2002 Winter: Union Board and [[WVKC]] sponsored "[[Hard Knox Hip-Hop]]", featuring [[El-P]], [[Aesop Rock]], [[RJD2]], and others. The show was subject to some controversy when promoters were forced to charge non-students a cover, due to the head planner's failure to secure enough funding to make the show free as advertised. [[Bitch and Animal]] played later in the term. [[The Guns of Navarone]], [[Horseshoes for Handgrenades]], and two other bands played even later in the term. These four bands, with a number of overlapping members, comprised the entirety of the Alton, IL math-rock scene. After the show, they crashed [[Bryce Porter]]'s birthday party, failing to dress up as Bryce.

Many bands have played at Knox. Some of them were brought to campus by formal organizations, such as Union Board or WVKC. Others were the effort of an individual, such as Chris Ternes.
