The Cherry St. Combo used to be comprised of two sub-combos, the "Alpha Dogs" and the "Omega Dogs." The Alpha Dogs, under the direction of [[David Hoffman]], are [[Eric Ratzel]] (drums), [[Corey Heppner]] (guitar), [[Sean Carmichael]] (piano, vibraphone, saxophones, vocals),[[ Jimmy Pittman]] (bass), [[Yumi Kusunoki]] (trombone), and [[Esther Newman]] (alto saxophone). The Omega Dogs, under the direction of [[Kevin Malley]], are [[Scott Sapp]] (drums), Heppner (guitar), [[Sean Carmichael]] (bass), [[John Lane]] (violin), and [[Doug Fennig]] (saxophones). The Knox College Cherry St. Combo is the top jazz combo at Knox College. The combo holds a weekly gig at McGillacudy's Bar on Cherry St. in Galesburg, IL, Thursday nights from 8:00 p.m. - midnight. Started in 1990, they originally performed at Cherry Street, hence the name.
