The Basics

Mornington Crescent (MC) is a game popularized by the early 1970's BBC television show "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue". It involves moving from stop to stop along the London Underground with a goal of reaching the Mornington Crescent tube stop. There are an endless myriad of rules, regulations, and acceptable moves. To make a compendium would be impossible, instead the rules are updated yearly (and sometimes more often should the need arrive) by scholars of the game at MC Conventions. Like the British Constitution rulebooks are illusory and their use is looked down upon by veteran players.

Some Popular Moves

There are a seemingly infinite number of potential moves, but some are more popular than others, especially considering that Knox Mornington Crescent players have traditionally adhered the Stansberger Doctrines in maintaining the standard cosine-neutral recursive algorithms for all on-campus play. In any type B or C games the following moves are likely, as these are designed to be introductory games (However, like chess a certain combination of preceding moves is necessary to enable these moves);

  • Dollis Hill Loop- A move which requires that every other move made by players following the enactment of a Dollis Hill Loop is back to Dollis Hill.
  • Bank Holiday- A player can move to Bank and suspend token circulation and some suburban purchasing rights.
  • Mornington Crescent- This move wins the game.
