Academy Street bus fire

Flames engulfed the back of the bus.

At about 4:15pm on Wednesday, 30 May 2007, a Galesburg Transit bus caught fire on Academy Street right next to campus. There were no injuries.

Passengers on the Number 2 bus heard a sizzling sound preceding a "poof". The bus went dead and the driver pulled over. Once the passengers had evacuated safely, the rear end went up in flames. Galesburg Fire Department and Police arrived to take care of the scene.[1]
