Fire alarm

Fire alarms go off in order to assure you that there is almost certainly not a fire in the building. They particularly like to remind you of this fact at three times: when you are sleeping, when you are in the shower, and when it is five below outside. The majority go off in Five-Name and in the frat houses, but most housing on campus gets fire alarms at least a few times throughout the year.

In the Campus Safety Log, one can read about the fire alarms that have gone off in various places on campus in the past week. They almost always say that the cause was "a dirty detector" or that "no cause was found for activation." From this, one might glean that Knox needs to look into its fire alarm systems and maintain them a bit better, or maybe replace the old, malfunctioning ones. But then how would we Knox students be reassured that there was no fire in the building several times a week? Our peace of mind would be lost, clearly.
