The division of the administration in charge of providing food, as well as managing Dining Dollars, Flex Dollars, and ID cards. The head of the department is Helmut Mayer. Margie writes a lot of memos related to timeclock problems.
They run the The Hard Knox Cafe, The Oak Room, and The Gizmo as well as The Out Post and The Grab-n-Go.
The people who work for Dining Services are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. If you can't find something, they will find it for you and bring it to your table. Since the arrival of the new director, food choices have increased dramatically, with lots of ethnic dishes to boot. Now there are also many more very good vegetarian and vegan options. A lot of the available food is still unhealthy, but if one wants to eat well, once can do that with little effort. Sometimes they make the people at the Gizmo wear hairnets, but that usually blows over, kind of like the hair in your breakfast bagel.
Dining Services food service employees are unionized and not hired as part of an outside food service contract. This means their pay is better than what other colleges pay, but due to other reasons it's still not that great. Laurie supplements her income with a yearly trip to Las Vegas.
