The Extremist's Angst Forum (EAF) was a popular radio program on WVKC from 2002-2005. Started by Pete McAvoy (resident hippie and Libertarian) and Emily Myers (resident environmentalist and Libertarian), the EAF began as an idea to bring two contrasting ideological voices on campus together to duke it out over the airwaves. With this in mind, Pete and Emily invited the ultra-conservative, law-school bound, GOP donating Drew Parsons and the ultra-Marxist, anthropologist-in-training Sean Dowdy to be those voices. The idea was that Pete and Emily would moderate the show, introducing weekly topics of social, political, economic, & legal concern, only to have Sean and Drew slash at each other's throats for an hour on end. The idea worked well and the program quickly became a favorite among faculty, students and Galesburg residents alike.

In 2003, Sean left for a stint in India to be replaced by the charming Dan Lieberman. Dan's self-depricating Jewish humor and sharp cracks at Mr. Parsons made the show even more popular. When Sean returned from India, he and Dan took turns at going fist-a-cuffs against the beloved Mr. Parsons.

Perhaps the greatest moment of the life of the EAF was during the 2004 election when the show provided all night coverage of the election, along with a very tense discussion of the possible futures of the country. Adam Prairie served as a roving journalist for the night and covered such political hotspots like the Republican Party at the Kensington, the Democratic Party at the Cherry Street Bar and Grill, and Duffy's.
