The Mathematics Department is one of eighteen academic departments at Knox. It offers two majors and two minors. The department is located in SMC.

The department offers one mathematics major and one mathematics minor.

Mathematics (major)[edit]

This major allows advanced study in mathematics.

Courses Required for the Mathematics major[2][edit]

10 credits:

  • All of the following:
  • One of the following:
    • Both of the following:
    • Both of the following:
    • Both of the following:
  • Four elective credits in the department numbered above 170, three of which must be 200- or 300-level
  • One of the following:

Two credits from outside the department may be counted toward the major with the chair's permission.

Mathematics (minor)[edit]

This minor allows for intermediate study in Mathematics.

The department offers one financial mathematics major and one financial mathematics minor.

Financial Mathematics (major)[edit]

This major allows advanced study in financial mathematics.

Courses Required for the Financial Mathematics major[4][edit]

10.5-11 credits:

Two credits from outside the department may be counted toward the major with the chair's permission.

For students completing a major-minor combination of Financial Mathematics and Business and Management, no more than three courses may be double-counted.

Financial Mathematics (minor)[edit]
