Daniel Dyrda
Dan Dyrda is one of the strangest people you will ever meet, though you have yet to know it. He has a rockin' goatee and is Lord of the Dance, as evidenced by an aging t-shirt. He was a resident of Naked House, you know, the one next to Jazz House.
A Brief History of Dan[edit]
Daniel Gregory Dyrda was pushed bloody and screaming into this world during the early hours of November 30th, 1987. According to popular legend, he was already sporting his stylish facial hair when he emerged from the womb. Oddly enough, all pictures of the infantile Dyrda have mysteriously disappeared.
After eighteen or so years of inconsequential events and teenage angst, Dan came to Knox with the intent of majoring in social science education. He has since learned better, and is now planning on double-majoring in Political Science and Philosophy.
Hobbies, Interests, and Obsessions[edit]
Dan has a rather unhealthy interest in the Cold War and communism in general. He has on a number of occasions expressed the opinion that the fall of the Berlin Wall is the single greatest defining moment in human history. He is a member of the now defunct ska-punk outfit Joseph Skalin, which derives its name from his love of communism.
Sometimes Dan plays World of Warcraft. His friends Tasha Coryell and Sara Belger don't like it when he plays WoW.
Dan is also a pretentious music nazi whose discriminating tastes often cause him to rant about his hatred of Dashboard Confessional, the perversion of emocore, the virtues of punk music, and the lameness of Bon Jovi, much to the amusement and/or chagrin of his friends and family. Moreso the chagrin than the amusement.
Dan wants to host a radio show on WVKC but always misses the meetings, perhaps out of an unconscious fear of success.
Among Dan's heroes are: Sean Connery, Timothy Treadwell, Friedrich Nietzsche, Tasha Coryell, Sara Belger, Eugene Hutz, and Salvador Allende.
Tasha Coryell would like it to be known that she added herself to the heroes list. As would Sara Belger.
Girls confuse Dan a great deal. Sometimes he lies and says they don't confuse him or that he doesn't have a crush on one of them, but that is a lie and don't believe him. This isn't a problem for him anymore since he started dating Laura Miller early in their junior year. Their height difference poses a problem that Xavier Romano has inquired about.
GDH is one of Dan's favorite places on campus.
Claims to Fame[edit]
On May 26, 2007, Dan, as well as friends Tasha Coryell and Sara Belger were declared "cool people" on Bill Mayeroff's WVKC radio show.
