Recent history has yielded many publicly-made complaints regarding the Grievance Panel. These comments are often related to student’s impressions of the GP and their claims of its ineffectiveness, in varying degrees. As will be fully addressed in this report, some areas that seem to be in most need of critical attention are the lack of training for those on the panel, the current guiding documents leave out many details on how the procedures are to operate, and there is a grave scarcity of public information on how to use the GP.
The Rape and Incest National Network estimates that one woman out of six is sexually assaulted in her lifetime, and that college aged women are four times more likely than others to be raped. A 2001 study by the American Association of University Women found that 8 out of 10 students experienced sexual harassment during their school lives. Although Knox is a friendly, close-knit community, it is incorrect to assume that we are somehow sheltered from the national problem of sexual violence against women.
The California Zephyr is considered among the most scenic Amtrak routes. California Zephyr riders are a curious bunch. They come from various walks of life, although they are rarely in a hurry, given the train's schedule issues. A large number of Knox students use the California Zephyr, generally for travel between Knox and points west. Most experienced Knox students know not to use the California Zephyr for westbound travel to Chicago.

Japanese Club was initially created as an organization for those interested in Japanese popular culture, primarily anime, manga, and video games. However, since 2003, popular culture became the territory of such organizations as Anime Club and the Gaming Information Network. The purpose of Japanese Club has shifted to promoting awareness of other aspects of Japanese culture, including traditions and holidays, cuisine and non-animated films. |
